A fresh start, a new name, and what’s next

We’re kicking off 2026, which always feels like permission to clean things up, rethink what’s working, and start fresh.

Where this started

I started Zero to Unicorn to share what I was learning about AI and show other people how to use it better. At the time, I was deep in the startup and tech world, so most of you were founders or working in SaaS.

Back then, generative AI was… rough. Image generation was bad. Writing outputs were stiff and formulaic. Still, I could see the potential early on. If you understood what worked and what didn’t, you could use these tools to work smarter.

My goal was simple. Figure out that path and share it as I went.

Who’s here now

The world of AI has changed fast, and so has this newsletter.

Today, the audience goes well beyond startups. Marketing leaders, agency owners, operators, sales professionals. People who want practical ways AI can help them do their job better, right now.

What you told me

Knowing that, I ran a reader survey. And you definitely had opinions.

The good news is you like the content. The average rating came in at just over 9 out of 10, which made my day.

Here are a few of my favorite quotes:

"You make the subject of AI less complex and present information in a very effective and useful manner!"

"I feel like your newsletter keeps me up to date on the new and overwhelming AI developments."

You also told me you want:

  • More on AI Agents
  • Practical AI use cases
  • Less theory, more application
  • Support navigating tool overload and speed fatigue

And you made it clear that the name Zero to Unicorn didn’t really match how you use this newsletter.

Which means it was time for a new name.

Zero to Unicorn is now AI at Work.

Same ideas and focus with a more appropriate brand to go with it.

And yes, I had a moment looking back at the old branding. What I once thought was cutting edge now feels a bit like 80s shoulder pads. Bold. Confident. Slightly unhinged in hindsight.

I’ve included a few of the original designs (I really loved that space theme!) because if you can’t laugh at your own design choices, what are you even doing?

What’s next

Now that you’ve had a laugh at my early design choices, here’s what stays.

I’ll keep sharing role-based workflows, practical examples, and honest takes on how AI fits into real work. You’ll hear from me just as often, in the same way.

I’ve also upgraded the newsletter platform to Kit.

Kit provides a better reading experience, cleaner delivery, and more flexibility on my end to keep improving things for you.

Emails might look slightly different, but the substance is the same. And if you ever want to read a back issue, you can find those at the original Zero to Unicorn website.

So, whether you’ve been here since the early Zero to Unicorn days or joined more recently, thank you for being here. I’m excited for what’s next!
